Registered Nurse / High Intensity Care Unit (HICU)

Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Registered Nurse to join our High Intensity Care Unit (HICU) team. This unit specializes in providing comprehensive care for medically complex patients requiring respiratory support, cardiac monitoring, and rehabilitation. The ideal candidate will work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team environment to deliver high-quality patient care.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide care for adult patients aged 18 and older with acute brain injuries, respiratory needs, and serious medical conditions.
• Monitor patients requiring respiratory assistance and special cardiac monitoring.
• Administer rehabilitation services as part of a multidisciplinary approach.
• Coordinate care with other health professionals to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
• Float between like units as needed to meet facility requirements.

Qualifications

• Must have a minimum of 2 years of RN experience.
• Experience in caring for patients with chronic diseases and complex medical conditions is required.
• Strong skills in cardiac monitoring and assessment are expected.
• Experience with respiratory support and rehabilitation of medically complex patients is preferred.
• Active Maryland or compact RN license is required upon submission.
• Current certifications in ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) and BLS (Basic Life Support) are mandatory.

Work Schedule

• Shifts available include a choice of 36-hour or 48-hour contracts per week.
• Every other weekend availability is required.

Time Off Policies

• A total of 14 days or less of requested time off may be auto-approved.
• Holidays during winter and summer are required, with no requests for time off granted during these periods.
• No time off is permitted on hard-to-fill days such as Easter, Mother's Day, and Father's Day.

Unit Information

The High Intensity Care Unit (HICU) comprises 20 semiprivate rooms, accommodating up to 40 patients requiring specialized care. The unit provides 24/7 respiratory care, diagnostic services, medical treatment, and rehabilitation focused on improving patient health.

Additional Information

This position is open to both travelers and local candidates. Candidates must be flexible with their scheduling preferences to meet the needs of the unit.
