Dental Cleanings: Dental hygienists at Heartland Dental would be responsible for performing professional dental cleanings to remove plaque, tartar, and stains from patients' teeth.
Periodontal Care: They would also assist in treating gum disease by performing scaling and root planning procedures to clean the roots of teeth and promote gum health.
Dental Exams: Dental hygienists often conduct preliminary dental exams, checking for signs of oral diseases or issues that may require the attention of a dentist.
Patient Education: They educate patients on proper oral hygiene practices, including brushing techniques, flossing, and the importance of regular dental visits.
X-rays: In some cases, dental hygienists may take dental x-rays to assist dentists in diagnosing dental problems.
Application of Fluoride and Sealants: They may apply fluoride treatments to help prevent tooth decay and dental sealants to protect the chewing surfaces of teeth.
Record-Keeping: Dental hygienists typically maintain detailed records of patient treatments and progress to assist in providing continuity of care.
