Job Summary:

Works with teachers to promote the educational and social development of the children and performs classroom management tasks to support both teachers and students.

Skills, Education, and Experience Required:

• High school diploma or GED
• Associate degree in education or related field
• Certification in child first aid and CPR
• At least one year of relevant experience in an educational or childcare setting
• Strong written and spoken communication skills
• Ability to collaborate well with others
• Ability to multitask and prioritize tasks
• Passing a background check and drug test.
• Knowledge of principles, policies and beliefs of the Florida Conference and the Seventh-day Adventist Church. Requires knowledge of church organizational structure.

Job Responsibilities:

• Supervises the classroom when the teacher is out of the room.
• Oversees unstructured free play.
• Works with small groups of students to support learning
• Works with the teacher to ensure the organization of free play corresponds to scheduled structured activities.
• Assists teachers in making a smooth transition
• Assists with meals, toileting, hand washing
• Performs general class-keeping tasks.
• Supervisees students in class, between classes, and during recreation periods
• Assist teachers during field trips and special events
• Works with individual struggling learners (one on one).
• Provides alternative support to other teachers and students when not occupied directly with the main classroom.
• Additional duties as assigned by the administration.
