Registered Nurse – ICU (Med Surg ICU)

Schedule / Job Type

Contract | Night Shift | Onsite | Shifts: 06:30–18:30 / 18:30–06:30 | Every other weekend required | 2 out of 3 major holidays or as needed based on unit needs

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care in a fast-paced Med Surg ICU setting serving adult and pediatric patients (15+ years) with diagnoses including respiratory failure, ARDS, MODS, sepsis, stroke, cardiogenic shock, renal failure, GI bleeds, and surgical cases
• Titrate drips including vasopressors, paralytics, narcotics, sedation, and antiarrhythmics
• Manage and monitor invasive lines and equipment including CVPs, A-lines, Swans, EV-1000, ICP monitoring, and ventilators ranging from nasal cannula to full ventilator support
• Read and interpret cardiac monitoring strips using centralized telemetry monitoring system (no monitor techs on unit)
• Collaborate with attending physicians, fellows, and residents to deliver high-quality, team-based patient care
• Float to all inpatient units as needed, excluding Maternity/NICU

Required Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license
• Minimum 2 years of recent ICU experience required
• Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required
• Ability to read and interpret cardiac monitor strips independently
• Must comply with facility fingernail policy — artificial nails are prohibited in all patient care departments
• Must successfully pass a unit-specific open-book orientation exam with a minimum score of 90%

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Experience with CRRT, Impella, or intra-aortic balloon pump
• Familiarity with neuro-interventional procedures or thrombectomy programs
• Experience with hypothermia protocols and rapid transfusion equipment
