Electromechanical Technician

The Electromechanical Technician troubleshoots, repairs, builds, and maintains automated equipment and related hardware systems to support safe, efficient, and reliable manufacturing operations. This role combines hands-on mechanical and electrical work with preventive maintenance and continuous improvement activities in a clean, small-scale production environment.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot and repair automated equipment, machinery, and hardware systems to minimize downtime and keep production running smoothly.
• Build, assemble, and install custom automated equipment, test fixtures, and prototype systems according to specifications and engineering documentation.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance manufacturing safety, efficiency, reliability, and product quality.
• Develop, document, and maintain standard operating procedures (SOPs) for equipment maintenance and repair activities.
• Own and manage the preventive maintenance (PM) program, including planning, scheduling, and documenting all maintenance activities.
• Analyze equipment performance data, maintenance records, and failure logs to optimize preventive maintenance strategies and reduce unplanned downtime.
• Collaborate closely with engineering, manufacturing, quality, and product development teams on new product introductions and production activities.
• Ensure all equipment operates safely and in compliance with internal standards and applicable regulatory requirements.
• Use hand tools, wrenches, screwdrivers, and other shop tools to perform mechanical and electrical assembly, adjustment, and repair tasks.
• Interpret and work from blueprints, schematics, and wiring diagrams to assemble, install, and troubleshoot mechanical and electrical systems.
• Install, route, and secure wires, cables, and harnesses in accordance with design specifications and safety standards.

Essential Skills

• Proven ability to troubleshoot and repair automated equipment, machinery, and hardware systems.
• Hands-on mechanical skills, including assembly, adjustment, and repair of mechanical components and structures.
• Hands-on electrical skills, including wiring, cable routing, and harness assembly for industrial or automated systems.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, mechanical drawings, and electrical schematics.
• Proficient use of hand tools such as wrenches, screwdrivers, and related mechanical and electrical tools.
• Experience working with steel and other structural materials used in automated equipment and fixtures.
• Strong understanding of equipment safety practices and regulatory compliance requirements in a manufacturing environment.
• Ability to develop, follow, and maintain standard operating procedures (SOPs) for maintenance activities.
• Experience managing or executing preventive maintenance (PM) activities, including documentation and scheduling.
• Capability to analyze maintenance records, failure logs, and performance data to improve equipment reliability.
• Effective collaboration skills to work with engineering, manufacturing, quality, and product development teams.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience building or supporting custom automated equipment, test fixtures, or prototype systems.
• Comfort working in a startup or growth-oriented environment where processes and systems evolve over time.
• Strong attention to detail and documentation discipline for maintenance records and SOPs.

Work Environment

This role operates in a small, very clean work area focused on automated equipment and manufacturing support. You will work hands-on with mechanical assemblies, electrical wiring, cables, harnesses, steel structures, and a variety of hand tools such as wrenches and screwdrivers. The environment supports close collaboration with engineering, manufacturing, quality, and product development teams, with a strong emphasis on safety, organization, and equipment reliability.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract position based out of Woburn, MA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $28.00 - $35.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
