Patient Services Specialist

Our Patient Service Specialists play a critical role in facilitating the patient admission flow across our imaging centers. From greeting patients to verifying insurance and processing documentation, this role ensures each visit starts with clarity, efficiency, and care. GENERAL DESCRIPTION / POSITION GOAL

I. Job Related Functions Demonstrates competency in the performance of job-related skills appropriate to customer populations and departmental services. Directly responsible for the overall administration, coordination, and evaluation of patient registration. Greets visitors and patients. Check‑in process. Check‑out process. Insurance verification process. Informs patients of costs for care being provided. Guides patients to appropriate resources for further information. Answers telephones and relays messages. Has knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices and procedures. Relies on instructions and pre-established guidelines to perform the functions of the job. Prepares patients for exams by assisting with dressing and undressing, positioning patients for exams, and escorting patients to and from the exam rooms. Prepares exam rooms. Must be able to interact compassionately and effectively with people who range from healthy to critically ill. May be required to start IVs; dependent on modality. Duties as assigned. II. Customer Service Expectations Demonstrates competencies in customer service and an understanding of SimonMed Imaging code of conduct and culture. III. Equipment Utilizes and operates equipment and mechanical devices which provide for a functional, effective, and safe environment. IV. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Requires a high school diploma or its equivalent and 0‑2 years of related experience. Must be able to communicate effectively with physicians, patients, and the public and be capable of establishing good working relationships with both internal and external customers.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

This position may require duties including lifting and carrying up to 40 pounds, sitting for prolonged periods of time, frequent standing and walking, good visual and auditory acuity, and good manual dexterity. Must be able to work in an environment with multiple deadlines and priorities and handle a stressful environment.

QUALIFICATIONS

1+ year of customer service, patient access, medical office, or call center experience preferred. Experience with scheduling, insurance verification, or healthcare registration processes preferred. Strong computer and data entry skills. Ability to multitask in a fast‑paced environment. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Experience working with EMR/PM systems preferred. High school diploma or equivalent required.
