Senior Director, Strategic Supplier Relationships (GCP/Biotechnology/Oncology)

SUMMARY/JOB PURPOSE The Senior Director of Strategic Supplier Relationships & oversight is responsible for developing an effective relationship and oversight model with multiple suppliers across Product Development and Medical Affairs to support the Exelixis portfolio. This leader optimizes governance, oversees quality performance metrics, escalates and resolves delivery and quality issues, and leads a high‑performing team of Supplier Relationship professionals to ensure best‑in‑class metrics, market intelligence, and benchmarking. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Partner with PDMA functional departments and SSP to define, implement, and continually improve outsourcing strategies, tactics, and operations with strategic suppliers. Set a strategic vision, direction, and expectations for supplier relationships, including process improvement strategies, optimized ways of working, and partner excellence models. Ensure high‑quality design and execution of processes related to supplier relationship and quality oversight. Address and problem‑solve systemic issues occurring in supplier relationships and drive resolutions and improvements. Build and maintain supplier relationships with internal and external key business partners and ensure goals, objectives, and results are monitored and reported. Act as liaison for SSP, legal, and finance on supplier relationship MSAs and work orders. Serve as a trusted business advisor, thought partner, and leader on key initiatives. Establish, document, track, and report vendor KPIs and KQIs. Develop and implement joint issue escalation and resolution communication plans, pathways, and trackers. Triage, resolve, or escape vendor relationship, performance, and quality issues received from internal customers and/or suppliers. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES Manage multiple straightforward reports. EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE / KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS Education/Experience Requirements: Bachelor’s degree in a related field with a minimum of 15 years of related experience; Master’s degree with a minimum of 13 years; Doctoral degree with a minimum of 12 years; or an equivalent combination. Industry Experience: Minimum 15 years of experience in the biopharmaceutical industry, including CROs, R&D outsourcing, purchasing, or procurement roles. Leadership and Management: Evidence of leadership and management skills of a senior team, strong engagement with external suppliers, and understanding of scientific, legal, and regulatory environment. Key Competencies: Leadership, networking, communication, partnership, collaboration, influencing, strategic thinking, problem solving, time management, change management, organizational skills, interpersonal skills, and advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook. JOB COMPLEXITY Accountable for leading, designing, and driving changes in ways of working across a complex stakeholder network and SMEs; ensures efficient processes and minimal burden on business owners. WORKING CONDITIONS May include occasional travel (less than 10%) to current or prospective vendors. COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS Base salary range: $238,500 - $339,500 annually, adjusted by geographic region. Total Rewards program includes 401(k) plan with generous company contributions, group medical, dental, vision coverage, life and disability insurance, flexible spending accounts, discretionary annual bonus program, and, for field sales staff, a sales-based incentive plan. Additional benefits include company stock purchase option, long‑term incentives, 15 accrued vacation days in the first year, 17 paid holidays (including a company‑wide winter shutdown in December), and up to 10 sick days per year.
