Automation Analyst

Title: Business System Analyst (Governance & Operations Automation Analyst) Location: Chantilly, VA 20151 Hybrid: 3 days onsite Notes: Looking for someone with a strong understanding of business processes and operations . This is a 50% business and 50% technical role. Strong understanding of process flows, workflow analysis, and automation opportunities . Hands-on technical experience with APIs, Python/coding, and Linux environments . Experience with automation tools and automation-focused solutions . Understanding and practical exposure to AI tools, particularly Claude Code . Ability to effectively bridge business requirements and technical solutions . A degree in Management Information Systems (MIS), Information Systems, or a related field . Overview The Governance & Operations Automation Analyst bridges business process expertise with hands-on GenAI implementation. This role combines business analysis skills with practical AI development using modern tools like Claude to build assistants and agents that streamline our governance workflows. The position will also support our AI API key management infrastructure, ensuring secure access to provisioning and usage monitoring. Key Responsibilities Analyze governance and operations processes to identify automation opportunities. Build AI assistants and workflows using Claude and AI-assisted development tools. Develop use case assessment frameworks and risk evaluation tools with GenAI. Support AI key lifecycle management (provisioning, approvals, spend monitoring). Design compliance monitoring solutions that leverage LLM capabilities. Document processes, requirements, and solutions for stakeholder communication. Partner with team members to deploy and refine automation solutions. Basic Skills & Tools Business Process Analysis Process mapping and workflow documentation. Requirements gathering and stakeholder interviews. Identifying automation candidates and building business cases. Claude API & Prompt Engineering Building assistants with Claude (e.g., Sonnet, Opus models). Advanced prompt design for complex governance tasks. Testing and iterating on AI outputs for accuracy. Microsoft Power Platform (User-Friendly Focus) PowerApps for building governance interfaces (low-code approach). Power Automate for workflow orchestration. Connecting Power Platform to AI assistants. Writing scripts to process data and automate tasks. Using AI coding assistants to generate and modify code. Basic data manipulation with Pandas. API Integration & Management Working with REST APIs and understanding JSON. Requirements gathering and stakeholder interviews. Identifying automation candidates and building business cases. Basic SQL queries and data retrieval. Understanding of SQLite and PostresSQL. Working with CSV data pipelines. AI Governance & Risk Assessment Understanding AI ethics, bias, and compliance considerations. Designing risk assessment questionnaires and scoring models. Building governance checklists and monitoring workflows. Automation & Scheduling Designing automated workflows and batch processes. Understanding CRON jobs and scheduled tasks. Backup and data synchronization strategies. Requirements Documentation & Communication Creating user stories and functional specifications. Building demos and proof-of-concepts. Presenting technical concepts to non-technical audiences. Practical AI Agent Development Designing agent workflows and decision trees. Building retrieval systems for governance documents. Testing and validating agent outputs. Preferred Skills Multi-Language Development Experience Shell scripting (bash) for automation. Experience with mixed-language projects. File permissions and access control management. Apache web server basics. Service user and CRON configuration. Identity & Access Management Integration Okta or similar identify platform experience. Understanding of approval workflows and access provisioning. DevOps & CI/CD Practices GitLab or similar version control platforms. Deployment automation and environment management. Spend & Usage Analytics Budget tracking and enforcement logic. Percentile calculations and usage pattern analysis. Ideal Background 3-5 years in business analysis, operations, or governance roles. Demonstrated experience building with GenAI tools. Comfortable learning new tools quickly and experimenting. Strong problem-solving skills with a “builder” mindset.
