About the Job This is a short term position with a duration of 5months. Work Environment In-person Location UMN-Saint Paul campus Schedule Monday-Friday, 8:00am-4:30pm (40 hours perweek) Responsibilities Project Support - Data Analysis and Documentation (70%) QTL analysis of microbiome and disease resistance data fortetraploid potato populations from collaborators AgRenSeq Data analysis for disease resistance data fromcollaborators RNAseq analysis for tetraploid potato Running genomic selection models for tetraploid potato Assisting students and other researchers in the lab with dataanalysis challenges Produce publication-quality figures from analysis results Write methods and results sections describing aboveanalyses Coordinate and collaborate with co-authors to writemanuscripts Participate in review and revision process Greenhouse/Field Research (30%) Assist in planting, data collection, pollination, care, andharvest of potatoes in the greenhouse and field Assist graduate students with data collection for thesisresearch Assist in spring planting preparation including cutting andpackaging seed, and verification Assist in potato grading, frying, and photographing Qualifications BA/BS plus at least two years of relevant experience or acombination of education and relevant work experience equal to six years Demonstrated ability to successfully work independently and aspartof a team Valid driver’s license by start date Experience with bioinformatic and/or quantitative genetic dataanalysis Desired Qualifications MS in plant sciences Experience working in non-model or polyploid systems Experience responding to journal requests for revision Experience with agricultural research including small plotexperimentation Published (or submitted for publication) computational geneticsresearch Special Requirements This position will include bothgreenhouse and agricultural field work, which will includetransporting 50+ lb crates of potatoes and bags of soil, movingthrough fields, riding farm equipment, and digging. Furthermore, itwill involve overnight travel with lab members to research siteswithin Minnesota and the Northern Plains region.
