Registered Nurse (RN) Stroke/Neuro PCU

Shift hours are 3x12, from 6:45 PM to 7:15 AM.

Weekend Requirement: May include every other weekend or 6 weekend shifts within a 6-week scheduling block.

Requests for Time Off (RTO): All requests must be included with submission.

Call Off Policy: The facility reserves the right to call off 1 shift every 2 weeks.

Holiday Requirement: Must work one holiday within a 13-week contract, with restrictions on holiday RTO during Christmas.

First-time Travelers: Accepted, though travel experience is preferred.

Local Candidates: Accepted; refer to submittal instructions for radius rule criteria.

Pending License: Accepted if the candidate holds a valid single-state license from a non-compact state; otherwise, a Virginia State or Compact RN license is required.

Required Certifications

• ACLS
• BLS
• NIHSS

Required Clinical Skills

• Cardiac monitoring, emergency response, and dysrhythmia interpretation and management.
• IV therapy, phlebotomy, blood product administration, and central/peripheral line care.
• Medication administration, including cardiac drips (no titration).
• Respiratory support including nasal cannula, oxygen administration, and non-invasive airway management.
• Experience in Neuro PCU.
• Knowledge of isolation precautions and telemetry settings across PCU, IMC, and stepdown units.

Unit Details

The Stroke/Neuro PCU specializes in the care and management of patients with hospitalist medicine, including stroke and neurology patients. The unit is equipped with remote telemetry, and tele sitting is implemented to enhance patient care tech coverage.

Staffing Ratios: Typically 1:5, with a goal of 1:4.

IV Drips Managed: Cardizem, Heparin, Insulin, low-dose dopamine/dobutamine, Amiodarone, Nitro, Bumex, Lasix, Lidocaine, Ketamine.

Floating: Nurses may be required to float within their skillset.
