Laboratory Assistant-HistologyHours: 40hrsShift: Day shift, 7:30am - 4:00pmLocation: St. Luke's Hospital - New Bedford, MAA career at Southcoast Health offers you:A culture of well-being that embraces, respects, and celebrates the rich diversity of one another and the communities we serveCompetitive pay and comprehensive benefits packageGenerous Earned Time Off Package**Employee Wellbeing Program403B Retirement Plan with company matchTuition assistance / Federal Loan Forgiveness programsProfessional growth opportunities and customized leadership training**Available to regular status employees who are scheduled to work a minimum of 24 hours.Southcoast Health is an Equal Opportunity Employer.ResponsibilitiesUnder the direction of the department Clinical Specialist and Pathologists and in coordination with Medical and Administrative Director and Laboratory Managers, perform basic pre-analytical technical and clerical duties including but not limited to: specimen receipt, specimen integrity acceptability, specimen processing, assist with basic hazardous chemical waste disposal, stain filtration and set up for fresh froze section reagents, and cleaning of instruments.QualificationsSuccessful completion of High School or equivalency required.Certification in Phlebotomy or Medical Assistant preferred.Knowledge of medical terminology preferred.Up to and including one year experience.Combination of education and experience as a microbiology specimen processor/lab assistant equivalent for at least 6 months accepted.Certification in Phlebotomy or Medical Assistant preferred.Must be fully vaccinated against seasonal Influenza and the COVID 19 virus or to be exempt from the requirement for medical or personal reasons by signing a statement certifying you are choosing to be exempt from vaccination once hiredCompensation: Pay rate will be determined based on level of experience.Pay Range: USD $21.94 - USD $28.82 /Hr.
