The Division Chief is dire ctly responsible to the Chair, Department of Surgery, University of Miami Miller School of Medicine for the Divisions overall function. The Chief will also serve as the Chief Surgical Officer for the specialty at Jackson Health System and the Chief of the Surgical Service at the VAMC for clinical activities within that Institution. On an annual basis, the performance of the Chief shall be evaluated by the Chair of the Department of Surgery based on the effectiveness of his/her leadership role and the satisfactory execution of duties. Able to hold physicians accountable for the quality of care expectations. Elevates unresolved issues promptly to the C h air for non-performance. Promote the mission of UHealth in achieving its role in providing medical education, resea rch, and quality patient care Ensure that the clinical services offered by the Division are of the highest quality, meet community needs, and support the organization Assume responsibility for developing and maintaining cost - effective resource management activities and strategies for the effective delivery of patient care correlated to clinical quality outcome data i.e. develop policies and procedures for quality assessment/improvement program. Establish performance criteria, measure, and record performance to make recommendations for promotion, tenure, and salary for all faculty, and staff members of the Division. Collaborate with Departmental leadership to i ncrease revenue generation and implement a cost-containment plan Interpret and help to ensure medical staff compliance with hospital and medical staff bylaws, policies, procedures, rules and regulations, and applicable regulatory standards. Serve as an active member of medical staff and hospital committees. Serve as a liaison to other disciplines to improve care coordination or to resolve concerns.
