Job Description

The duties of the Pharmacy Technician include:

1. Orders and procures drugs; receives drug shipments, maintains pharmacy storeroom and hospital drug stocks; properly stores drugs.
2. Enters the correct drug, strength, dosage form and quantity into the patient's computerized medical chart. Process prescription claims through the Point of Sale software. Repackages drugs in usable prescription size, maintains control of logs as required for quality control.
3. Prepares sterile solutions in the pharmacy. Interprets doctor's orders; obtains necessary ingredients; prepares and labels the final product. Assists pharmacists in filling prescriptions (i.e., typing, filling prescriptions in written and oral forms, etc.).
4. Operates and cares for various pharmacy equipment; assists pharmacy staff in maintaining cleanliness of main pharmacy, pharmacy storage, and other drug storage areas.
