Job Title: General Production Worker – Weekend Shift Orbital Welder Job Description

This role focuses on performing orbital and hand welding on stainless steel and aluminum vacuum fittings in a cleanroom environment. You will complete an initial day-shift training period before transitioning to a weekend shift schedule, operating orbital welding equipment, performing mechanical set-ups, and ensuring products meet strict specifications and quality standards.

Responsibilities

• Complete a one-month day-shift training program to learn processes, equipment, and safety procedures before transitioning to the weekend shift.

• Perform basic set-ups and operate orbital welding systems for stainless steel and aluminum vacuum fittings ranging from one-eighth to one-half inch.

• Perform mechanical set-ups and changeovers for orbital welding machines to support different products and configurations.

• Operate orbital welding equipment and related systems safely, following all safety guidelines and procedures.

• Fit, align, and precisely orbital weld products to meet customer requirements, specifications, and workmanship standards.

• Work from schedules, shop orders, established procedures, blueprints, schematics, and product specifications to complete assignments accurately.

• Measure and verify dimensions using inspection tools such as calipers, micrometers, gauges, and tape measures to confirm product conformance.

• Demonstrate the ability to process and inspect parts in accordance with technical drawings and prints.

• Maintain logs and other required documentation to record work performed, inspections, and test results.

• Identify deviations, defects, or issues that could interrupt productivity or affect product quality and escalate as needed.

• Prioritize work to meet production schedules and commitments in alignment with direction from leads and supervisors.

• Keep work areas clean, organized, and compliant with cleanroom and safety requirements.

• Collaborate with Engineering to support the development and refinement of advanced welding processes as needed.

• Assist team members to achieve departmental standards, including quality goals and on-time delivery targets.

• Use approved hand gauges and inspection tools at the work center to ensure component quality.

• Handle fragile products carefully and perform repetitive tasks with consistent quality and safety awareness.

• Perform other duties as assigned to support production and departmental objectives.

Essential Skills

• Mechanical aptitude and the ability to perform mechanical set-ups and changeovers on orbital welding machines.

• Experience operating orbital welding equipment and performing hand welding on stainless steel and aluminum components.

• Ability to read and comprehend blueprints, technical drawings, schematics, correspondence, and related documents.

• Proficiency in using inspection tools such as calipers, micrometers, gauges, tape measures, and other hand gauges.

• Ability to measure, verify dimensions, and inspect parts in accordance with prints and product specifications.

• Strong visual acuity and manual dexterity to perform precise welding and handling of small or fragile components.

• Ability to handle fragile products, perform repetitive tasks, and maintain consistent safety awareness.

• Ability to exercise discretion and independent judgment in daily tasks and quality decisions.

• Basic math skills, including the ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide using whole numbers, common fractions, percentages, and decimals.

• Ability to read testing and measuring instruments, record test results accurately, and write related reports.

• Physical ability to sit, stand, walk, bend, and lift up to 35 pounds as required by the role.

• Ability to work under normal to moderate supervision while following established procedures and schedules.

• Cleanroom experience, particularly in a Class 100 cleanroom environment.

• Comfort working weekend shifts (Friday, Saturday, and Sunday) on a 12-hour schedule.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience working in a cleanroom environment, ideally Class 100, with an understanding of cleanroom protocols.

• Familiarity with orbital welding processes and equipment used on vacuum fittings.

• Mini Head experience is a plus.

• Experience using hand and power tools in a production or manufacturing environment.

• Ability to collaborate with Engineering and cross-functional teams to support process improvements.

• Strong attention to detail and commitment to meeting quality and on-time delivery goals.

• Comfort maintaining documentation, logs, and records in a production environment.

Work Environment

This position operates in a Class 100 cleanroom environment, requiring adherence to strict cleanliness and contamination-control standards. You will work with orbital welding systems, hand and power tools, and precision inspection equipment such as calipers, micrometers, gauges, and tape measures. The role includes an initial one-month day-shift training period, typically from 6:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday, with a specific training week scheduled from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday at a third-party site in Milwaukee. After training, you will transition to a weekend shift schedule, working Friday, Saturday, and Sunday from 5:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., with a shift differential applied. The environment emphasizes safety, organization, and cleanliness, with expectations to keep work areas orderly and follow all safety and cleanroom guidelines while performing physically active tasks such as standing, walking, bending, and lifting up to 35 pounds.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $24.00 - $28.00/hr.
