Advanced Practice Provider - TB Coordinator

TB Liaison

Provide acute, chronic, emergency, and preventative care to outlying village residents in accordance with NSHC's mission, philosophy, policies and procedures while under the direct supervision of the TB Liaison in Nome. Uphold the organization's vision, mission, and corporate values. Demonstrate understanding of and compliance with organization's policies, procedures, code of conduct and work rules.

Essential Functions:

  • Assess with screening, contract tracing, evaluation and treatment of patients with TB or close contact of patients with Tuberculosis
  • Complete communication education and needs assessments and development of educational material that is culturally appropriate
  • Work in conjunction with the NSHC Physician TB Liaison to assure that tasks on the TB action plan are being completed
  • Assess, plan and provide patient care under the supervision of a physician
  • Examine patients, perform comprehensive physical examinations, and compile patient medical data, including health history and results of physical examinations
  • Ensure proper illness and injury care and disease prevention, diagnosis, treatment and recovery
  • Use appropriate process of assessment, diagnosis, planning, intervention, and evaluation when assessing the patient's condition and needs, setting outcomes, implementing appropriate actions to meet the patient's/family's physical, emotional, spiritual, social, intellectual and safety needs, and evaluating patient's progress
  • Ensure patient care is accomplished effectively and efficiently in a cost-effective manner, discharge planning is carried out, and the medical regime for each patient is implemented as prescribed by the physician
  • Participate in facilitating patient and family learning by explaining the patient's disease, process and planning interventions to the patient/family
  • Demonstrate ability to care for medical, critically ill, traumatically injured, mental health, emergency, maternal/neonate, and pediatric populations according to policy and procedure when medically necessary
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Minimum Requirements:

Education - Degree - Program

Masters Degree - Physician Assistant or Family Nurse Practitioner program

Experience - General (Non-supervisory) - Supervisory

Amount: - 0year(s) - 0(years)

Type: Must have both general and supervisory experience if indicated.

Credentials - Licensure, Certification, Etc.

Licensed to practice as an Advanced Practive Provider in the State of Alaska; NCCPA, PALS, Medivac, ACLS and BLS certification/registration; DEA#. In addition, must maintain a current collaborating agreement with Physician or Physicians on NSHC Medical Staff.

Physical Requirements:

Use hands and arms to operate office or clinical equipment

Sit less than half the workday

Stand and/or walk more than half the workday

Bend, stretch, twist, crouch and/or reach

View electronic monitors for prolonged periods of time

Lift or carry unaided 25 to 50 pounds

See and hear with normal acuity

Working Conditions:

Work is conducted in a standard office environment and a standard clinical environment to include exposure to latex, biohazard or other harmful substances

Some travel is required

Travel is required via large aircraft

Travel is required via small (less than 16 passenger) aircraft

Travel is required via snow mobiles, all-terrain vehicles or boat
