QuadMed is looking for a PRN Registered Nurse for our 24/7 Occupational Health Center. In this role you will provide support as needed with overnight coverage from 10:00 PM to 6:00 AM. General Purpose of Job The Occupational Health Registered Nurse will provide general nursing care and leadership for Occupational Health Services, working with physicians and multidisciplinary team members. The position is responsible primarily for nursing functions, including but not limited to documentation of vital signs and chief complaint, administering medications and injections, phlebotomy, patient triage, authorizing medication refills, patient education, and a focus on wellness and prevention. Key Responsibilities Perform duties in accordance with the Nursing Code of Ethics and other guiding principles of nursing. Assess, plan, direct and evaluate total nursing care as determined by the patient’s age‑related physical, psychosocial, and cultural needs, in accordance with established standards, policies and procedures of QuadMed. Provide case management by being a patient advocate, resource and contact person for patients and families. Provide basic wellness and prevention education information to patients and families, focusing on self‑care appropriate to their age and identified learning considerations and needs. Perform assessment data collection and document subjective data (chief complaint and allergies) and objective data (vital signs, weight, etc.). Review basic health history information for patients, focusing on environmental, self‑care and health and wellness center discharge planning. Administer medications/immunizations skillfully and correctly; perform therapeutic treatments and other health screenings as required by the provider. Record vital signs, audiograms, vision testing, urine collection, blood collection, spirometry, respirator fit testing, injections, basic first aid, urine drug testing, and breath alcohol testing. Perform lab/diagnostic tests including preparing specimens, testing and recording results as ordered by provider, and report all critical lab values immediately. Anticipate and prepare examination rooms with equipment and supplies required for the visit. Assist provider with examination and procedures per request. Utilize universal precautions in obtaining specimens (venipuncture, cultures, etc.) and in delivery of patient care. Acknowledge patient’s rights on confidentiality issues, maintain patient confidentiality at all times, and follow HIPAA guidelines and regulations. Complete all documentation accurately, timely and efficiently for regulatory compliance; demonstrate skills necessary for proper documentation in the Electronic Medical Record; participate in quality improvement, continuing education, and other patient care programs established by the health center requirements for QuadMed and/or assigned client groups. Job Requirements Education Graduate from an accredited nursing program; BSN preferred. Experience At least three (3) years of experience working in a primary care or ambulatory setting and familiarity with an electronic medical records system. Phlebotomy experience. Outpatient experience strongly preferred. Occupational Health experience preferred. Certificates, Licenses, Registrations Current and valid license in the state of the position or a compact state license. Current CPR (BLS) certification or must be obtained within 60 days of hire. ACLS a plus. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Strong nursing and interpersonal skills, especially when working with diverse populations. Strong communication (verbal and written) skills. Strong organizational skills; able to set priorities and work independently. Knowledge of patient care procedures, medical protocols, and testing procedures necessary to support an Occupational Health center. Manage day‑to‑day operations of the clinic with guidance of the Clinic Supervisor. Skilled in assessment, evaluation, nursing diagnosis, and treatment planning. Apply critical thinking skills and keen attention to detail. Strong skills in utilizing technology. Employees can be expected to be paid an hourly range of $45‑$55, based on variations in knowledge, skills, experience, and market conditions.
