Position Summary

The Inventory Controller is responsible for ensuring that system inventory accurately reflects physical inventory at all times. This role owns inventory accuracy, transaction discipline, and inventory-related data integrity across all warehouse locations.

The Inventory Controller operates as the control function between warehouse operations, customer service, and the ERP system, ensuring inventory supports reliable order fulfillment and consistent operational decision-making.

Key Responsibilities

1. Inventory Accuracy & Control

• Own inventory accuracy across all locations (system vs. physical)
• Design and execute structured cycle counting program
• Investigate discrepancies and drive root cause resolution
• Control and govern all inventory adjustments with full documentation and traceability
• Ensure inventory records are audit-ready at all times

2. Transaction Discipline & Process Integrity

• Enforce correct inventory transactions across all warehouse activities
• Validate receiving, put-away, and movement transactions
• Identify breakdowns in process and drive corrective actions
• Ensure adherence to defined inventory handling procedures
• Prevent inventory issues through discipline, not post-adjustment fixes

3. ERP & Data Integrity

• Maintain accuracy of inventory data within the ERP system
• Ensure correct item/location setup, bin structure, and status usage
• Partner with Data / ERP support for system improvements and data cleanup
• Act as the primary owner of inventory-related system integrity

4. Operational Audit & Validation

• Audit inbound receiving and container put-away for accuracy
• Validate storage locations, quantities, and logical placement
• Identify and escalate systemic risks impacting inventory reliability
• Act as independent verification of warehouse execution quality

5. Inventory Health & Reporting

Monitor and report on:

• Inventory accuracy
• Adjustment volume and trends
• Inventory aging and dead stock
• Inventory-related order issues
• Provide clear visibility into inventory performance and risks

Decision Authority

• Inventory adjustments within defined thresholds
• Initiation of recounts and audits
• Escalation of inventory-related risks and process failures
• Validation or rejection of incorrect inventory transactions
• Recommendations for process changes impacting inventory integrity

• Order Flow Manager
• CSR leadership
• Purchasing
• Finance
• Data / ERP support

Qualifications

• 3–5+ years in inventory control, warehouse operations, or similar role
• Strong understanding of inventory systems and transaction flows
• Experience with cycle counting, reconciliation, and root cause analysis
• High attention to detail and process discipline
• Strong Excel and data handling capability
• Ability to operate cross-functionally and challenge inconsistencies
