Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Registered Nurse (RN) Specialty: Behavioral Health - Inpatient Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 7:00 PM - 7:30 AM Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: 2 years behavioral health experience, pediatric experience License: State license required Certifications: BLS Must-Have: - 2 years of behavioral health experience - Pediatric experience Description: A Registered Nurse is responsible and accountable for performing the nursing process as a basis for patient care. Registered Nurses provide direction and oversight to other licensed and non-licensed staff. Registered Nurses show compassion to recipients of services, coworkers, and surrounding communities through integrity, stewardship, empowerment, the promotion of diversity, and professional excellence. The Registered Nurse must demonstrate excellent customer service and have enthusiasm for the program and organization. The Registered Nurse assesses individuals' care needs, develops a plan of care in collaboration with an interdisciplinary team, and continually reassesses the plan of care according to individuals' changing needs. In collaboration with the physician, the Registered Nurse provides and coordinates nursing care to individuals and groups. The Registered Nurse assists in teaching individuals and their families, and provides milieu management. They communicate with and educate individuals and families/significant others regarding discharge and aftercare planning needs. The Registered Nurse provides a safe and secure environment for individuals and staff in both individual and group settings. They are responsible for documenting, reporting, and verifying all necessary information according to established policies and procedures. The Registered Nurse monitors and reports any potential risks to individuals' safety that could lead to adverse outcomes. They create a customer-friendly environment by following quality improvement standards, maintaining professionalism, and initiating positive relationships with departments, coworkers, and external customers. The Registered Nurse provides care in various clinical settings with diverse patient populations. They identify specific individuals' needs and implement patient-centered, compassionate care. The Registered Nurse functions as a clinical leader, delegating and coordinating staff assignments and promoting staff development. They are responsible for utilizing and continually reviewing patient care protocols, standards of practice, and standards of care. The Registered Nurse gives input into processes for improvement and promotes the careful use of resources. May be responsible for training direct care staff and may have indirect responsibility for oversight of medication and physical health activities. The Registered Nurse is responsible for upholding the organization's mission and values, presenting a professional image in appearance, attitudes, behaviors, time management, and communication skills. They provide spiritual, emotional, social, mental, and physical support to patients. In community settings, they are required to support and promote a recovery-focused environment and a person-centered approach within the program. The Registered Nurse is committed to demonstrating the Hospital and Residential Services Model of Care in all settings. They are responsible for maintaining annual training and demonstrating competency in required programmatic training. The Registered Nurse may perform other duties or functions as assigned. They may function as a charge nurse.
