Locum MD (Medical Doctor) Psychiatry

This on-site position offers an opportunity to provide high-quality psychiatric care within a dedicated healthcare environment serving patients in the Glenview community.

As a Locum Psychiatrist you will deliver comprehensive mental health evaluations diagnosis and treatment plans for patients across a range of psychiatric conditions. This Associate-level role is well suited for physicians who bring clinical experience and a patient-centered approach to mental health care working collaboratively within the medical practice to ensure continuity and quality of care.

Responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive psychiatric evaluations and assessments
• Diagnose mental health conditions and develop individualized treatment plans
• Prescribe and manage psychotropic medications monitoring efficacy and side effects
• Provide ongoing follow-up care and monitor patient progress over time
• Document patient encounters accurately and maintain compliant medical records
• Collaborate with primary care providers therapists and other healthcare professionals
• Address psychiatric emergencies and crisis situations as they arise
• Adhere to clinical guidelines regulatory requirements and practice protocols
• Educate patients and families about mental health conditions and treatment options
• Participate in case reviews and contribute to continuous quality improvement

Requirements

• Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) degree
• Completion of an accredited residency program in Psychiatry
• Active and unrestricted medical license to practice in Illinois
• Board certification in Psychiatry or eligibility for certification
• Strong knowledge of psychiatric diagnosis pharmacotherapy and evidence-based treatment
• Experience managing diverse patient populations across the lifespan
• Excellent interpersonal communication and patient engagement skills
• Ability to work independently and manage a flexible on-site clinical schedule
• Preferred: Prior locum tenens or contract experience in outpatient psychiatric settings
• Preferred: Familiarity with electronic health record systems and telepsychiatry tools

Schedule: Monday-Friday (8a-5p)

Shifts available at multiple facilities

Patient Types: Primarily adult and geriatric some addiction

Support Staff: APPs

Responsible for supervising NPs

EMR: Epic

Must be board-certified

Paid travel & expenses
