The Ohio Veterans Home in Georgetown is a 168-bed nursing home facility. What You'll Do Serves food to residents & employees Follows all food handling, food safety & food service sanitation practices Sets up dining areas for meal service and tears down dining areas after meal service Sets up salad bar for meal service and tears down salad bar after meal service Uses appropriate portion control utensils properly Adheres to all diet, texture & special instructions (e.g., adaptive equipment tray setup) on resident meal tickets Uses thermometer to monitor & record food temperatures as instructed Delivers meal & snack items to nursing unit dining rooms &/or kitchenettes Portions foods into individual servings Covers, labels, dates & stores perishable items, &/or leftover food items Cleans &/or prepares fruit, vegetables & other foods for cooking &/or serving; makes sandwiches, salads, desserts, dressings & beverages; grills, fries & toasts food Obtains, fulfills, & serve food & drink orders in restaurant-style capacity. Qualifications: Formal education in reading & speaking common English vocabulary & formal education in arithmetic that includes addition & subtraction of whole numbers. Job Skills: Food Services Unusual Working Conditions : May be required to stand for extended periods of time. May be required to lift heavy objects from time to time. May be exposed to a variety of bodily fluids and infectious diseases from residents. May be required to work weekends and mandatory overtime. Supplemental Information: In compliance with federal law, all persons hired will be required to verify identity and eligibility to work in the United States and to complete the required employment eligibility verification form upon hire. Unless otherwise required by legislation or union contract, starting salary will be set at the lowest rate of the salary range with gradual increases after completing probation and following successful annual performance evaluations. The final applicant selected for this position may be required to submit to urinalysis prior to an appointment to test for illegal drug use. The State will decline to extend a final offer of employment to any applicant with a verified positive test result. Also, an applicant with a positive test result will not be considered for any position with the State of Ohio for a period of one year (not applicable to current state employees). Employment is contingent upon successful completion of a criminal records check as required by Section 3721.121 of the Ohio Revised Code.
