The Role

We are seeking a detail-oriented, driven Mechanical Project Engineer to join our growing team. In this role, you will act as the critical bridge between design engineering and field execution. You will oversee the installation, tracking, and quality control of complex mechanical systems—including HVAC, Process Piping, and Plumbing. Working closely with Project Managers, detailing teams, and Field Superintendents, you will ensure our high-stakes projects are delivered safely, on schedule, and within budget.

What You’ll Do

• Project Execution & Tracking: Partner with the Project Manager to establish baseline construction schedules, track daily project milestones, and maintain accurate monthly progress updates.
• RFI & Submittal Management: Review, process, and track Requests for Information (RFIs), shop drawings, product data, and material submittals to ensure flawless alignment with design specifications and codes.
• Field Engineering & QA/QC: Conduct regular job site walkthroughs and field inspections to verify that mechanical installations match approved drawings. Prepare and distribute detailed field status reports.
• Change Management: Proactively identify, document, and track project scope changes. Assist in preparing Rough Order of Magnitude (ROM) cost estimates for change orders.
• Materials & Procurement: Coordinate directly with vendors, detailing teams, and subcontractors to guarantee the timely fabrication and delivery of pipe hangers, supports, and primary mechanical equipment.
• Commissioning & Closeout: Play a hands-on role in onsite systems startup, equipment testing, pressure testing coordination, and formal mechanical commissioning. Assemble final O&M manuals and turn-over documentation for the client.

What You Bring

• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Construction Management, or a highly related technical field.
• Experience: 3–5 years of hands-on experience in commercial or industrial mechanical construction. (Field-level experience with an MCAA contractor is a major plus.)
• Technical Proficiency:
• • Ability to read, review, and evaluate detailed mechanical blueprints, structural elevations, and 3D coordinate spaces.
  • Working knowledge of AutoCAD and Revit (BIM) to review or update red-line markups.
  • Familiarity with project management software (such as Project Site or MS Project).
• Compliance Knowledge: A solid baseline understanding of regional building codes, mechanical codes, and OSHA safety regulations.
• Communication Skills: Outstanding multi-tasking and communication abilities. You must be comfortable and effective collaborating with everyone from field labor and design engineers to high-level client representatives.
