Proficient with central lines, NG tube management, ostomies, and drain management. Experience with foley management is preferred. Description: This position is for a nursing role in a medical surgical unit. The unit consists of 35 beds, with nurse-to-patient ratios of 1:4-5 based on acuity. An acuity tool is utilized to balance assignments in real-time. Common diagnoses include bariatric surgeries, urology procedures, colorectal surgeries, vascular surgeries, acute care surgeries, gynecological surgeries, and plastic/reconstructive surgeries. Additional specialty surgeries include Whipple Surgery and Pectus Surgery. The unit manages both surgical and medical patients. A charge nurse is present on each shift, but they do not have a patient assignment. Unit leadership includes assistant nurse managers and a manager for support, as well as on-call coverage on weekends. Traveling nurses may take on charge duties if they have the appropriate experience. Certified nursing assistants are available at a ratio of 1:8-10. Remote tele-monitoring is utilized, and nurses must be able to read telemetry strips. Shifts consist of 12-hour periods with schedules aiming for work-life balance. Weekend shifts are required every other weekend or more frequently if needed. There is no call or standby requirement. Floating to similar units within the network is expected, with travelers being the first to float when necessary. Scrubs should be clean and professional, with no specific color requirement. The facility follows a 50-mile radius rule for applicant residence.
