We're here to support your goals, inspire your journey, and celebrate your wins.Job SummaryResponsible for following recipes and production guidelines to prepare baked goods while adhering to food safety, food handling, and sanitation procedures, and promoting customer service.Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesFollows recipes to prepare cakes, donuts, cookies, and other products according to customer orders or as needed for display.Prepares ingredients by measuring, weighing, mixing, shaping, and scoring them.Operates commercial baking equipment such as ovens, mixers, dough proofers, etc.Responsible for completion of production list and filling out special order requests, as well as packaging and labeling products.Maintains attractive product presentation in designated area by maintaining and filling bakery trays, display cases, and ingredient bins, as well as rotating product to ensure quality and freshness while adhering to food safety standards.Maintains friendly and customer-service-oriented attitude by greeting customers, answering questions, responding to complaints, and assisting in locating and selecting products.Maintains clean, safe and sanitary working and shopping environment by adhering to Company safety procedures.Promotes product sales through use of suggestive selling initiatives.Knowledge, Skills and AbilitiesBasic mathematical skills for the purpose of following recipes.Ability to safely operate and maintain department equipment.Ability to effectively communicate in written and verbal form with customers and partners.Ability to work flexible schedules including nights, weekends and holidays.Must be attentive to potential hazards and remedy or place appropriate warning signs or devices around or near the hazard as soon as is reasonably possible.Must report any potential hazards that cannot be immediately remedied to a supervisor.Education, Experience and QualificationsMinimum of 18 years of age required.Partners must be 21 years of age or older to drive for Company business in accordance with the BGC Business Driver Policy.Food handler certification required.Six months of related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience preferred.Typically involves on-the-job training.Physical DemandsContinuously required to use close vision, distance vision, depth perception or the ability to focus.Continuously required to use hands for reaching, touching or handling.Continuously required to use fine finger movements, or strenuous finger and hand movements.Continuously required to stand or walk.Frequently required to talk and hear.Frequently required to push, pull, maneuver or lift objects up to 50 lbs.Frequently required to bend, stoop, kneel or squat.Occasionally required to push, pull, maneuver or lift objects up to 75 lbs.Attendance at work is required.Work Context and EnvironmentWork is generally performed in a retail store.Frequently exposed to hot surfaces.Frequently exposed to extreme cold conditions (non-weather).Frequently exposed to extreme heat conditions (non-weather).Occasionally exposed to wet, slippery or damp conditions.Occasionally exposed to cleaning agents.Quiet to moderate noise level.Brookshire Grocery Company strives to provide a safe, drug and alcohol-free environment for its partners and customers.
