Assistant Tax Manager

Tax Accountant / Tax Manager Virtual CPA Firm | Remote | October 2026 - May 2027 About the Firm I am a solo CPA operating a fully virtual practice focused on high-quality tax work for individuals, partnerships, and closely held businesses. I am looking for a reliable, experienced tax professional to join me during the 2026 tax season to help deliver accurate, timely returns and high-level client support. The Role This is a part-time, seasonal position running October 2026 through May 2027. The most time intensive months will be January - May 2027. Hours will fluctuate with the season (heavier in February-April) and can be flexible around your schedule, provided deadlines and client needs are met. All work is remote except for the occasional in person meeting. You will work directly with me on a mix of individual and business tax engagements, with particular emphasis on more complex transactions and entity returns and tax analysis. Key Responsibilities Bookkeeping for clients Prepare and review Form 1065 (partnerships), Form 1120, and Form 1120-S returns Handle individual income tax returns (Form 1040) with varying levels of complexity Research and prepare journal entries and tax returns related to installment sales and asset sales Analyze and report on gain/loss calculations, basis adjustments, and related tax elections Communicate with clients as needed to gather information and explain results Maintain organized workpapers and documentation in a fully digital environment Meet firm quality standards and filing deadlines Ideal Candidate Someone who enjoys complex transaction work, takes ownership of their files, and can jump in during tax season without extensive training. You should be comfortable working in a lean, virtual environment and communicating clearly via email, phone, and shared digital tools.
