Flexo Press Operator

The Opportunity The Flexographic Press Operator is responsible for setting up, operating, and maintaining a Mark Andy flexographic press to ensure high-quality production output. This role plays a critical part in manufacturing operations by ensuring product quality, minimizing downtime, and supporting continuous improvement initiatives. A typical day includes preparing the press for production, monitoring print quality, troubleshooting equipment issues, collaborating with team members, and ensuring compliance with safety and operational standards. How you will impact Smurfit Westrock Set up, adjust, and operate a flexographic Mark Andy press to meet production requirements Perform semi-complex and critical tasks that directly impact manufacturing quality and efficiency Identify and troubleshoot machine malfunctions to minimize downtime Clean, lubricate, and make minor adjustments to maintain optimal production quality Notify leadership of equipment repairs and replacement part needs Deliver finished materials to designated manufacturing areas Ensure equipment is maintained in safe and proper operating condition Support additional printing processes as directed by leadership Assist in training new employees and team members Review and follow all print documentation to meet specification requirements Adhere to company policies, procedures, and core operational processes Comply with safety procedures to maintain a safe work environment Support ISO 14001 environmental standards and initiatives Maintain a clean and organized work area Apply Lean principles to identify, evaluate, and resolve operational challenges Drive continuous improvement in quality, cycle time, safety, cost, and customer satisfaction Collaborate with maintenance and other departments on projects and validations Perform additional duties as assigned What you need to succeed High school diploma or GED required Minimum of three years of experience as a press operator or operator trainee Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively Ability to interpret safety rules, operating instructions, and procedure manuals Basic math skills including addition, subtraction, and percentages Proficiency with personal computer applications such as email, databases, spreadsheets, and word processing Ability to operate standard office equipment including fax and copy machines Ability to communicate with internal and external stakeholders effectively Ability to manage and maintain filing systems Proficiency in using hand tools Reliable attendance and willingness to work overtime as needed Ability to perform essential job functions with or without reasonable accommodation Physical ability to meet job demands including standing, lifting, and repetitive movement (reasonable accommodations may be provided) What we offer Corporate culture based on integrity, respect, accountability and excellence Comprehensive training and development opportunities Competitive compensation aligned with experience and skills Career growth opportunities within a global organization focused on sustainability, safety, and inclusion Smurfit Westrock (NYSE:SW) is the go-to leader and partner of choice in sustainable packaging.
