Summary / Objective The Design Developer is responsible for preparing, sizing, adjusting, and proofing custom customer artwork using Adobe Illustrator . This production-focused position ensures customer designs are technically accurate, visually correct, high-quality, and properly prepared for printing across a wide range of custom products. The ideal candidate is highly detail-oriented, comfortable working in a fast-paced production environment, and able to balance speed, accuracy, quality, and production deadlines . Essential Functions Receive, review, and evaluate customer-submitted photos and graphic files for quality, resolution, format, and content to ensure they are suitable for printing. Prepare and adjust customer artwork using Adobe Illustrator . Accurately size, crop, position, and align artwork within established product templates and die-lines according to manufacturing specifications. Review artwork and proofs to identify and correct technical or visual issues before production. Perform basic artwork edits and adjustments while maintaining the integrity of the customer's original design. Manage a high volume of orders while consistently meeting established production timelines and deadlines. Prioritize and expedite jobs based on production requirements and business needs. Maintain proficiency in Adobe Illustrator , with an emphasis on efficient workflows and the use of keyboard shortcuts. Perform machine operator duties as assigned. Cross-train on equipment, workstations, and production processes as designated. Float between assignments, equipment, workstations, and daily production activities to meet business needs. Inspect finished products to ensure they meet established quality specifications. Maintain a clean, organized, and neat workstation. Actively participate in department meetings and team activities. Assist junior team members as needed or assigned. Follow established production, quality, and safety procedures. Adobe Illustrator Skills Candidates should have a working knowledge of Adobe Illustrator and be comfortable performing production artwork tasks, including: Artboard management Layers and artwork organization Pathfinder tools Clipping masks Basic vector editing Resizing and scaling artwork Cropping and positioning artwork Aligning and distributing objects Working with fills, strokes, and colors Placing and managing images Basic text and typography adjustments Working with product templates and die-lines Reviewing artwork for alignment, sizing, and print-readiness Using keyboard shortcuts to improve efficiency Following established artwork preparation and production workflows Advanced graphic design skills are not required. Candidates should have a strong foundation in Adobe Illustrator and the ability to learn and apply production-specific templates, processes, and specifications. Skills and Qualifications Working knowledge of Adobe Illustrator and basic graphic production principles. Strong attention to detail and ability to identify visual and technical errors. Ability to accurately read, count, compare colors, and follow detailed instructions. Ability to learn and maintain knowledge of various production equipment and processes. Ability to work independently and effectively as part of a team. Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced, high-volume production environment. Strong sense of urgency while maintaining quality and accuracy. Adaptable and comfortable working in an environment where priorities may change. Strong organizational and time-management skills. Good verbal and written communication skills. Positive, dependable, and team-oriented attitude. Intermediate computer skills and ability to learn new software and systems. Basic understanding of production practices and quality standards. Willingness to cross-train and assist in various areas of production as business needs require. Required Education and Experience High school diploma or equivalent preferred. Previous experience using Adobe Illustrator preferred. Experience in graphic design, print production, digital printing, manufacturing, or a similar production environment is a plus. Equivalent combinations of education, training, and experience may be considered. This position works in a fast-paced production environment where employees are expected to maintain productivity, accuracy, and quality while meeting production deadlines.
