Job Title: Construction Project Engineer

Job Description

The Construction Project Engineer leads feasibility assessment, planning, and execution of construction and modification projects within manufacturing paint booth environments. This role combines engineering expertise, project management, and hands-on coordination with contractors and trades to deliver safe, efficient, and on-schedule projects in a complex industrial setting.

Responsibilities

• Investigate project feasibility, including scope, schedule, and budget to ensure alignment with operational and business objectives.
• Create detailed scopes of work, bid packages, and project specifications for construction and modification projects.
• Review technical and construction drawings, provide engineering feedback, and negotiate design changes where necessary.
• Evaluate safety compliance with local and national codes and standards throughout all project phases.
• Collaborate with third-party safety compliance contractors to ensure all work meets required safety regulations.
• Work closely with multiple internal groups and external partners to design and install equipment while meeting project milestones.
• Supervise contractors in both green-field and brown-field work environments, ensuring quality, safety, and adherence to project plans.
• Coordinate installation activities with skilled trades, affiliate companies, engineers, and equipment manufacturers.
• Develop and implement countermeasures and recovery plans for project delays to achieve timely project completion.
• Execute and manage paint booth modification projects, including structural changes and airflow improvements.
• Oversee work with sheet metal structures and large components inside paint booth environments.
• Manage construction and commercial construction activities, including projects valued at $500K or more.
• Lead project scheduling, coordination, and communication among multiple stakeholders and team members.
• Apply strong coordination and collaboration skills to align engineering, trades, vendors, and operations.
• Perform repetitive, process-driven project work with a focus on consistency, quality, and continuous improvement.

Essential Skills

• Bachelor of Science in Engineering (Mechanical, Chemical, or other relevant disciplines), Technical Trader Certification, or equivalent experience.
• Minimum 3 years of experience in a manufacturing environment.
• Minimum 3 years of project management experience, preferably managing projects valued at $500K or more.
• Commercial construction experience and understanding of construction management principles.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office software, including Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
• Ability to review and modify drawings with proficiency in AutoCAD.
• Experience in bid specification development and contractor negotiation.
• At least 2 years of experience reviewing technical drawings.
• Strong coordination and collaboration skills with multiple stakeholders and team members.
• Ability to work effectively in both green-field and brown-field construction environments.
• Comfort working with sheet metal structures and large components inside industrial booths.
• Comfortable performing repetitive, process-driven work with attention to detail.
• Engineering background combined with practical trade experience with an execution-focused mindset.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 safety certification.
• Experience with automotive paint processes.
• Prior project management experience within Toyota or similar automotive manufacturing environments.
• Hands-on trades experience, such as sheet metal work.
• Familiarity with utility cost calculation and related analysis.
• Experience with airflow systems and environmental controls.
• Ability to collaborate with safety compliance contractors and vendor management systems.
• Strong communication skills for working with vendors, affiliate companies, and cross-functional teams.

This is a Contract position based out of Georgetown, KY.

The pay range for this position is $35.00 - $50.00/hr.

This is a fully onsite position in Georgetown,KY.
