The Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) provides comprehensive evaluation and treatment of speech, language, and communication skills. Responsibilities include conducting qualitative and quantitative assessments, including standardized testing, to identify and diagnose communication impairments and develop appropriate treatment plans. The SLP maintains accurate documentation of evaluations, progress, status, and discharge, including clear demonstration of medical necessity for reimbursement. Ethical guidance is provided to clients and families regarding communication disorders, treatment options, coping strategies, and home programs. The SLP collaborates with clients, families, staff, schools, medical professionals, and other members of the care team to ensure quality, coordinated services. Knowledge of current speech-language pathology practices, contraindications, and evidence-based treatment methodologies is expected.
