The handyman for this 150 unit apartment complex plays a vital role in maintaining the overall property condition through hands-on repair and maintenance tasks. Working independently, this role requires proficiency across multiple trades to ensure apartments and common areas are safe, functional, and well-maintained for residents.

Responsibilities

• Perform general repairs throughout the apartment complex
• Maintain plumbing systems including minor fixes and preventative care
• Conduct electrical repairs and troubleshoot issues
• Complete carpentry tasks such as framing, drywall, and trim work
• Apply painting for repairs and touch-ups both inside units and on exterior surfaces
• Support HVAC maintenance and basic troubleshooting
• Implement preventive maintenance to avoid costly breakdowns
• Prepare apartments for turnover including all repair and cleaning tasks
• Ensure compliance with safety standards and protocols
• Manage inventory of repair materials and tools effectively

Required Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years of experience in general maintenance roles
• Vocational training or certification in maintenance or repair trades
• Proficiency in carpentry, plumbing, electrical repair, and painting
• Basic knowledge of HVAC maintenance
• Strong problem-solving abilities
• Excellent time management skills to work independently
• Effective communication skills for reporting and coordination
