Must-Have:
- Competence in care of specimens
- Ability to carry out medical/surgical asepsis
- Skills in cleaning and preparing surgical rooms
- Knowledge of steam sterilization procedures
- Ability to maintain equipment and supplies
- Accurate operating room counts
- Capacity to set up, scrub, and prepare for procedures
- Strong patient interaction skills
- Basic understanding of Client specific surgical procedures
- Familiarity with Labor and Delivery unit workflows


Description:
The Certified Surgical Technician works collaboratively with the surgical team while advocating for patient safety.
Maintains the sterile field and organizes instruments for surgical procedures.
Anticipates surgeon needs and ensures all necessary tools are prepared in advance.
Sets up operating rooms and adheres to professional standards and procedures.
Demonstrates competence in the care and handling of specimens.
Follows aseptic techniques when setting up for procedures.
Cleans and prepares rooms timely before procedures, and after the last case.
Responsible for sterilization and biological monitoring as needed.
Guarantees availability of instruments, sutures, supplies, and equipment for each surgical procedure.
Collaborates with the nursing team to maintain appropriate surgical supplies.
Checks all instruments and equipment to ensure proper functionality before each procedure.
Completes accurate operating room counts and reports any discrepancies promptly.
Sets up and prepares for procedures at least 15 minutes prior to scheduled times, unless instructed otherwise.
Maintains an orderly and sterile instrument table for efficiency.
Cares for instruments and equipment during the intra-operative phase.
Complies with call schedules and departmental protocols.
Interacts professionally with patients and their families, providing explanations and reassurance as necessary.
Notifies the appropriate personnel when patients experience pain.
Adopts procedures tailored to meet individual patient needs.
Assists in positioning, prepping, and draping patients for surgical procedures.
Capable of scrubbing basic cases with minimal supervision.
Possesses knowledge of specific Client surgical procedures and labor and delivery workflows.
Understands the supply needs specific to labor and delivery.
