Line Cook

As a line cook at Wegmans, you'll sharpen your culinary skills by preparing menu items for prepackaged meals and hot food bars, helping customers enjoy delicious meals. Responsibilities Deliver incredible customer service by preparing ingredients and creating high-quality meals Follow recipes, use proper knife skills, and apply cooking techniques to ensure consistency Effectively multitask and balance prep work while ensuring meals are prepared in a timely manner Understand how products look and taste at their peak of perfection Assist with ordering to help maintain appropriate inventory levels and minimize waste Requirements 1+ years of experience working in a production kitchen Prep work experience Physical Demands The work environment is indoors with exposure to cold temperatures (33–55 °F) and near ovens and hot equipment (exceeds 135 °F). The physical demands include standing, walking for prolonged periods, repetitive hand and arm movements, bending, reaching, frequent lifting, and occasional heavy lifting, with an average weight range of items lifted at 5–10 pounds and a maximum of 50 pounds occasionally. Upper extremity repetition is moderately high and trunk movement involves moderately high twisting, bending, and pivoting. Exposure to various allergens is possible. Basic tools and equipment used include common cooking and kitchen utensils and equipment, ovens, and stove.
