The opportunities are endless.Position OverviewThe Plant Health Care Technician plays a critical role in the successful management of plant material throughout our portfolio of high-end residential landscapes throughout Southern New England. This position is responsible for completing daily assigned tasks with a focus on efficiency, quality, and safety where communication and problem-solving in real time are a necessity. Ideal candidates will have hands-on Plant Health Care experience, strong leadership skills, and a proactive approach to time and resource management. This is a hands-on, field-based position requiring physical work, attention to detail, and the ability to be self-motivated as this is primarily an independent role.Job Duties And ResponsibilitiesDiagnose insect, disease, and fertility issues on a wide variety of trees and shrubsPerform applications to improve and maintain the health of plant material using both pesticides and organic materialsAdhere to best Integrated Pest Management (IPM) practicesCommunicate needs of trees and shrubs on specific properties to Field Production Manager and/or Account ManagersRoutine care and regular calibration of spray truck equipment to ensure accurate applicationsBe adept at following EPA labels and correctly mixing spray tanks for necessary applications each dayEnter in detailed notes regarding each application including record of material usage and time into handheld deviceAssist with ornamental tree pruning when neededFollow a route to efficiently visit multiple properties each day and effectively complete tasks at each propertyUtilize strong time management skills to follow and adjust daily schedules as needed to meet project deadlines and productivity goals.Ensure all work meets or exceeds company quality standards and adheres to industry's best practices.Job QualificationsMust possess valid Driver's License with clean driving recordMust possess current MA and/ or RI Pesticide Licenses or ability to obtain them prior to employmentField experience with comparable positions is much preferredDegree relevant to the field (plant pathology, arboriculture, etc.) is preferred but not requiredWillingness to work in all types of weather (heat, rain, cold, snow, etc.)Willingness to work some Saturdays as workload and weather during busiest times of year may dictateA strong passion for and dedication to enhancing and managing the quality of the plant material on the properties we maintainSkills / CompetenciesGood written and oral communication skillsGood time management and organizational skillsSelf-starter with ability to stay motivated working independently or part of a teamBasic math skillsTeam player with positive attitude and proven ability to work hard in a fast-paced environmentUrgency to grow and improveOutstanding attention to detailProactive, self-motivated, innovative, collaborative, problem solverPhysical RequirementsPhysical agility required to access all areas of properties and landscape sites, assist in manual labor, and lift and/or move objects weighing up to 50 pounds.The Perks401(k) plan with company matchMedical insuranceDental insuranceVision insuranceFSA/HSAPerkSpotLong-Term Disability and Life InsurancePaid time OffTuition Reimbursement (after one year of service)Mariani Enterprises LLC is committed to pay transparency and equity among all employees and provides employees with an environment where pay transparency and dialogue on compensation are allowed.
