Job Title: Aircraft Mechanic / Aircraft Maintenance Technician II Job Description
The Aircraft Maintenance Technician (AMT) II is a mid-level aircraft mechanic responsible for inspecting, troubleshooting, repairing, and modifying commercial aircraft airframes, engines, and systems in compliance with FAA or equivalent regulatory standards. This role independently executes complex maintenance tasks, accurately interprets technical manuals, and provides guidance to junior technicians while ensuring safety, quality, and operational reliability in a fast-paced maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO) environment.
Responsibilities
You will join a growing aviation organization that offers clear room for advancement and long-term career development in commercial aircraft maintenance. The company supports continuous learning through regulatory training, aircraft type updates, and safety certifications, helping you expand your technical expertise over time. You benefit from a culture that values safety, professionalism, and teamwork while still offering flexibility, including more adaptable break schedules during the summer months to support better work-life balance.
Work Environment
This is a full-time, first-shift position, typically scheduled Monday through Friday from 6:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Work takes place in hangars, on flight lines, ramps, and tarmacs, involving both indoor and outdoor environments. You will regularly stand, walk, bend, crawl, and kneel, and you may work in confined spaces such as fuel tanks, electronics bays, and cargo holds. Tasks often require working at heights from mobile platforms and ladders with appropriate fall protection. The role involves frequent lifting and handling of heavy tools, equipment, and aircraft components weighing more than 50 pounds. You will work around high-decibel noise from jet engines, pneumatic tools, and ground support machinery, making hearing protection mandatory. Daily activities may include handling hazardous materials such as aviation fuels, hydraulic fluids, solvents, lubricants, and sealants, following strict safety and disposal procedures. The environment can involve extreme heat, freezing temperatures, rain, and high winds when working outdoors. Personal protective equipment, including safety shoes (steel-toed or composite-toed), gloves, goggles, and hearing protection, is required. The operation is fast-paced, with dynamic priorities and occasional high-stress situations driven by tight aircraft turnaround times and urgent, unscheduled maintenance demands.
