Mechanical Designer

We are seeking a Mechanical Designer to join our dynamic team. You will primarily focus on designing powertrain components, engine parts, test equipment, leak test machines, and industrial washers. Our work involves the design and build of powertrain automation, including assembly and test equipment, special-purpose machines, and cleaning & finishing systems. You will work on multiple projects simultaneously and communicate effectively with group leaders and industrial workers on the shop floor.

Responsibilities

• Design powertrain and engine components using SolidWorks.
• Develop and build test equipment, leak test machines, and industrial washers.
• Collaborate with team members and industrial workers to ensure design accuracy.
• Participate in various projects, managing multiple tasks effectively.
• Address issues on the shop floor when necessary.
• Travel to customer facilities for approval and field checking.

Essential Skills

• SolidWorks Design experience with the ability to start immediately.
• At least one year of experience in automation design, particularly in powertrain automation equipment design.
• Experience with assembly and industrial washers.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Relevant examples of automation design, such as conveyors and powertrain assembly.
• Experience with industrial washers is highly regarded.

Work Environment

The work environment consists of a small office space in Livonia with fewer than ten employees on-site. Work will primarily be desk-based, with 90% of the time spent at the station and 10% addressing issues on the shop floor. The typical workweek is 40-50 hours, including possible Saturdays. The role may involve travel to customer facilities for approval and field checks. The company fosters a family-like atmosphere, emphasizing teamwork and talent development. This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Livonia, MI.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $40.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
