Job Details Position Type: Travel Registered Nurse Specialty: Progressive Care Unit (PCU) / Cardiac Stepdown Assignment Length: 13 weeks Shift: 12-hour day shifts Hours Per Week: 36 guaranteed hours Weekend Requirement: Minimum of 6 weekend shifts per 6-week schedule period Call: No call required Estimated Weekly Pay: $1,800 - $1,890 Float Expectations: May float to stepdown, med-surg, or ER inpatient holding areas as needed Location: Asheville, NC 28801 Start Date: 09/21/2026 Job Requirements Active RN license Minimum 1 year of recent nursing experience in stepdown, telemetry, Progressive Care Unit (PCU), or a similar acute care setting Strong cardiac rhythm interpretation and telemetry skills ACLS certification required BLS certification required Experience with cardiovascular surgery and vascular surgery patients preferred Comfort working in a fast-paced, team-oriented hospital environment Ability to adapt to floating assignments when needed Responsibilities Provide direct care for cardiovascular progressive care patients, including post-op CABG, AVR, MVR, Bentall, TAVR, lobectomy, thoracotomy, AAA repair, fem-pop bypass, and carotid endarterectomy cases Care for overflow medical cardiology patients with conditions such as heart failure, DKA, chest pain, sepsis, and heart block Monitor telemetry, assess patient status, and respond quickly to changes in condition Manage cardiac drips, including phenylephrine, dobutamine, dopamine, milrinone, cardizem, amiodarone, insulin, heparin, nitroglycerin, and ketamine Perform or assist with epidural management, chest tube management, tube feedings, and IV Glucommander-related care Document patient care accurately in Cerner Collaborate with physicians, charge nurses, PCTs, and the broader care team to support safe, high-quality patient outcomes Maintain a patient-centered approach while contributing to a flexible and supportive unit culture Apply now to explore this Asheville, NC travel nurse job and take the next step in your nursing career.
