Job Title: Pipe Installation Technician Job Description

Join a dedicated team in the construction industry focused on installing and maintaining piping systems for various utilities. You will be responsible for accurately interpreting blueprints and schematics, ensuring precise installation and maintenance of water mains, sewer lines, and storm drainage systems.

Responsibilities

• Interpret blueprints, schematics, and grade stakes.

• Measure, cut, assemble, and install pipe for water mains, sewer lines, and storm drainage systems.

• Set pipes to proper line, grade, and slope.

• Work inside trenches in compliance with OSHA trench safety standards.

• Assist with trench preparation, bedding, and backfill.

• Locate, remove, and replace existing underground piping as required.

• Pressure test systems to ensure proper installation.

• Communicate effectively with operators and crew members.

• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe job site.

Essential Skills

• Ability to read blueprints, schematics, and utility plans.

• Strong measuring and layout skills.

• Knowledge of pipe installation methods, fittings, and materials.

• Proficiency in using hand tools and power tools.

• Understanding of trench safety and jobsite best practices.

• Strong attention to detail and problem-solving ability.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience in commercial construction and pipe laying.

• Familiarity with heavy equipment operation and fine grading.

• Experience with underground utilities and construction equipment like bulldozers and vibratory rollers.

Work Environment

Work on average 40-50 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 7 am to 5 pm, with flexibility for some weekends, depending on weather conditions. The role requires travel across 15 job sites in the Richmond Metro area, with the furthest site being 45 minutes from Chester, VA.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Virginia Beach, VA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $24.00 - $28.00/hr.
