Airport Janitorial Service Worker

SUMMARY:

Under general supervision, performs routine janitorial duties for assigned public and administrative buildings and grounds areas; cleans public entryways, bathrooms, hallways, and meeting rooms; collects and empties trash, including recyclables; performs periodic deep cleaning projects; opens and closes buildings and secures all entrances; and performs other related duties as assigned.

JOB DUTIES:

The duties listed below represent the various types of work that may be performed. The omission of specific duties does not prevent the assignment of work that is appropriately related to this class.

• Performs janitorial services within assigned areas of public and administrative buildings.

• Scrubs, disinfects, and cleans lavatory fixtures, floors, walls, showers, and tubs using germicides and green seal products; replenishes lavatory supplies and cleaning materials.

• Dusts, polishes, and cleans desks, tables, shelves, cabinets, woodwork, and other furniture; dusts and washes light fixtures.

• Sweeps, mops, strips, seals, waxes, and buffs floors; vacuums and shampoos carpeting and upholstered furniture.

• Cleans and polishes drinking fountains, basins, countertops, and other stainless-steel fixtures.

• Washes and cleans windows, blinds, windowsills, screens, and glass doors.

• Collects and stages material for recycling and disposes of trash.

• Performs periodic facility security checks; locks and secures doors and windows.

• Orders, stocks, and maintains cleaning supplies and equipment.

• Operates special cleaning equipment and participates in major cleaning projects.

• Keeps workstation and equipment neat and clean.

• May utilize computers and software systems to maintain work records.

• May move, set up, and/or break down furniture and tables for events and meetings; may replace lightbulbs.

• May monitor the performance of outside cleaning contractors for special projects such as carpet and window cleaning.

• Performs other related duties as assigned.

EMPLOYMENT STANDARDS:

Education and Experience

Any combination of experience and education that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be:

Education:

•Possession of a high school diploma or equivalent.

Experience:

•One year of janitorial experience.

Licenses and Certificates:

•Depending on assignment, a valid license to drive a vehicle in Colorado and a safe driving record may be required at the time of appointment and throughout employment.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS:

May be required to successfully pass a Federal Security Background Check to comply with TSA SIDA badging requirements.
