Colorado Day Camp Counselor

Important Details Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, typically 30-36 hours/week (position depending) Position Duration: Training begins 1-3 weeks before programming starts; programs run from mid-late May through early-mid August. See Colorado Camp page for dates and location specifics. Compensation: Pay determined based on position, additional responsibilities, relevant certifications, and staff tenure. Starting hourly rates: Instructor: $19.29/hour Specialists: $19.70 - $20.70/hour Relevant Certification Bonuses: $100 - $400 per certification (up to $1000 for multiple certifications) Job Duties With a co-instructor, spend a week leading programs in mountain biking, outdoor rock climbing, kayaking, canoeing, and/or SUP with camp games. Responsible for risk management and teaching campers how to ride safely. Serve as a role model, guiding campers in appropriate behavior, attitudes, and activities. Provide exceptional customer service to campers, parents, and Avid families. If you have advanced skills in outdoor rock climbing, mountain biking, whitewater paddling, or survival skills, consider applying as an Activity Specialist to lead both multisport and single sport programs. Most positions require eligibility to drive; Drivers transport campers by company vans and trailers, and must attend driver training and pass assessment. This job description outlines primary responsibilities; flexibility, adaptability, and ownership are essential. Your Background Must be at least 18 years old by start of camp for all positions (positions limited for non-driver candidates). Drivers must be at least 20 years old, have a valid 3-year driver's license, and a clean driving record. At least one year of experience working with kids in a professional or volunteer setting is preferred. Experience in core sports is highly preferred, required for Specialists. Minimum Basic First Aid, CPR, and Mandatory Reporter certification by start of camp. Specialized certifications eligible for end-of-season bonuses of $100 - $400 per certification.
