RN - Oncology

Registered Nurse Oncology Infusion Clinic

Under general supervision, provides nursing care to a variety of patients with health problems ranging from simple to complex. Administers PO, SC injections, chemotherapy drugs, and other medications as ordered by physician. Consults with other medical personnel and may provide expert information about chemotherapy and side effects. Provides a variety of assistance to physicians. Assumes responsibility for clinic-specific assignments. Documents patient responses to nursing interventions and prescribed medical treatments. Notes all changes in physician orders on assigned patients. Assists physician during conscious sedation and in performing minor diagnostic procedures and treatment. Obtains and monitors physiological data of patients, observes physiological manifestations, and intervenes when necessary. Administers medication as prescribed. Initiates, regulates, and monitors intravenous infusions and blood products. Delivers patient care competently. Interacts with family and patients in sharing care plans while in the clinic, during discharge, and for continued care via phone triage. Informs patients and families of clinic procedures. Provides chemotherapy-related educational information to patients and families. Answers inquiries and provides guidance as appropriate. Makes referrals regarding patient care needs to appropriate personnel. Delegates tasks to support staff. Schedules patient follow-up activities related to their treatment. Assists with coordination of care by obtaining referrals and completing phone calls after clinic visits. Performs other duties as assigned.

Experience: 1 year of chemotherapy experience required License: Current RN License issued by the state board of nursing, or a current multistate compact RN License (eNLC) Certifications: - Current Basic Life Support issued by the American Heart Association - ACLS (American Heart Association) - Fundamentals of Chemotherapy Immunotherapy Administration - Oncology Nursing Society (ONS) - ONS/ONCC Chemotherapy Immunotherapy Certificate - Oncology Nursing Society (ONS)
