Overview Assistant Controller - Marietta, GA Who: A driven accounting professional with leadership capabilities and a CPA (or working toward it). What: Oversee key accounting functions such as accounts payable, job costing, or subcontractor payments while supporting a dynamic finance team. When: Immediate need. Where: Confidential well-established construction company. Why: Due to growth and the need for leadership within the accounting team. Office Environment: Collaborative and cross-functional, engaging with both operations and executive leadership. Salary: Competitive and based on experience. Position Overview: Join a seasoned accounting team and take on a leadership role managing financial operations and department oversight with a clear path for advancement. Key Responsibilities Lead and develop a department to ensure operational excellence and professional growth. Manage quarterly closings, financial statement preparation, and audit support. Strengthen internal controls and optimize accounting workflows. Collaborate with executives and IT to improve financial systems and reporting. Oversee job costing, subcontractor payments, and contract revenue management. Leverage Vista (Trimble) and Excel for data analysis and reporting. Qualifications CPA certification (or in progress). Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s preferred. 5–7+ years in accounting, preferably in construction (heavy civil is a plus). Strong leadership and team management experience. Proactive, adaptable, and highly communicative across all levels. Previous management experience preferred.
