Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Progressive Care Unit Duration: 16 Weeks Shift: Day Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum of 2 years required License: Active nursing license required Certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS Must-Have: - Experience in Progressive Care Unit with patient ratios of 1:5 - Cardiac telemetry experience - Experience in management and interpretation of dysrhythmias - Proficient in peripheral line care/management and PICC line management - Ability to titrate drips - Float to different campuses as needed Description: This is a high-level, high-functioning Progressive Care Unit. The unit cares for multiple long-term patients. Shifts are three 12-hour days, from 07:00 to 19:30. Weekend and holiday rotations are required. There is no on-call requirement. All travelers will be subject to float between campuses if needed. Previous charge experience is preferred. Experience with electronic medical records is preferred. Daily census is approximately 30 patients, with 35 beds available. Staffing includes interdisciplinary support teams. Primary patient diagnoses include stroke, renal disorders, sepsis, endocrine disorders, gastrointestinal disorders, and hematological disorders. The unit provides telemetry-monitored beds for cardiac surveillance. All registered nurses must pass a compliance EKG exam with a maximum of two attempts. Registered nurses will be required to manage high-flow nasal cannulas, blood product administration, and other procedures. Modules required for training are non-billable and vary in hours. Dysrhythmia interpretation and management are essential skills for this position. Isolation precautions and PPE management are critical components of care. Patient care may involve those requiring total care due to severity of illness. Candidates must meet all specified qualifications to be considered.
