Position Overview As a Broadband Specialist I (Field Technician), you will focus on new installations of cable television and broadband services. You will drive a company van, visit customer homes, and represent Mediacom. You will perform duties including installation, changes of service, additional outlets, disconnection of service, payment collection, and any special installation requests. Benefits include: Company provided vehicle and gas card Paid on the job training and opportunity for advancement Company provided tools, tablet, and phone Health, vision, and dental insurance Paid vacation, holidays, and flexible paid time off 401K with generous company match Pay increases through self-guided training Performance bonus potential Employee discounts on Mediacom services or internet/cable reimbursements where services are not available Education Enrichment up to $5,000 per year for qualified employees Company provided uniforms and boots Employee Wellness Program Position Responsibilities Make customer drop installations (exterior and interior) from tap to antenna terminals on customer equipment in single and multiple unit dwellings, including pre-wired units Perform new connects, reconnects, disconnects, add outlets, install/remove converters, and upgrades/downgrades of service Analyze picture quality and judge acceptability of picture delivered following installation Work with connectors, fasteners, wires and hand tools; use customary CATV hand and power tools Complete appropriate paperwork as prescribed by system management Read signal levels with field strength meter; adjust levels; install connectors on various drop cables; maintain proper clearances; install tap-off devices Climb poles, ladders, or other structures as needed with proper safety equipment Lift and carry loads up to 100 lbs; work in confined spaces Use a VOM or DMM to check for open/short circuits and measure AC/DC voltages Read general drop system layouts from blueprints Inform customers of FCC Rules and company policies related to service Operate company vehicles; perform vehicle upkeep and maintenance Generate additional revenue through effective sales techniques and by informing customers about product options and promotions Assist with cleanup and salvage of materials and provide general support to other employees Perform installations and changes of service in accordance with applicable codes, guidelines, procedures, and safe work practices to provide an outstanding customer experience Position Requirements No experience required High school diploma or GED required Valid driver’s license with satisfactory driving record General knowledge of mechanical and consumer devices Ability to interact and communicate with customers and co-workers Ability to work in high or tight spaces Ability to work in all weather conditions and at various heights Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, holidays, and overtime as required Physical Requirements Physical effort required: frequent handling of heavy objects (about 50-100 lbs) and heavy hand tools Get to know us: Mediacom Communications is known by brands including Xtream TV, Phone and Internet, Xtream Xpert, Xtream Wifi360Pro, Xtream Hotspots, Mediacom Bolt, Mediacom Digital Home, Mediacom Business, and OnMedia.
