Job Title: Accessioning Clerk Department: Laboratory Reports To: Accessioning Supervisor FLSA Status: Full-Time | Non-Exempt | Hourly Prepared Date: March 19th, 2021 Approved By: Human Resources Approved Date: Position Summary: The Accessioning clerk is responsible for the receiving, sorting, labeling, and the processing of daily specimens that are to be analyzed and reported. Essential Duties and Responsibilities To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. • Receive packages from FedEx and samples from couriers, • Sort samples according to protocol, • Perform QA, and specimen container check, • Perform scanning and imaging for billing, • Perform initial data entry in LIS, • Prepare samples for send-outs to reference laboratories, • Record discrepancies and communicating these errors to Supervisor and Client Services, • Collaborates with other internal departments to achieve business demands, • Other duties as directed by direct supervisor. Non-Essential Duties: None Supervisory Responsibilities: None Education and Experience: • High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED); and one to three years related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience accessioning specimens, required. • Associate degree (A. A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; or six months to one-year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience accessioning specimens, preferred. Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: None Skills and Abilities: • Proficiency in Computer Skills, including Microsoft Suite (i.e., Outlooks, Teams), • Attention to detail, • Strong oral and written communication skills, • Strong data entry skills, • Exceptional time management skills, • Efficiency in sorting and labeling. Other Qualifications, if applicable: • Ensure all company safety, quality control, and quality assurance standards are met, • Knowledge of Standard of Operations (SOP's) related to performing patient phlebotomy and use of proper PPE, • Maintain compliance with local, federal, HIPAA, CLIA, and CAP regulations. Work Conditions: • Accessioning position requires extended periods of sitting or standing at a workstation while working on a computer. • Ability to lift, up to 30 lbs. • Must use fingers, handles and arms 75% of time to perform the work of accessioning.
