Job Description Solutions Architect (Engineering) Position Overview We're seeking a Solutions Architect to design innovative energy solutions that solve our customers' most critical challenges. You'll work at the intersection of customer needs, technical possibility, and commercial viability—translating complex requirements into compelling, profitable proposals that win business and deliver results. In this role, you'll collaborate closely with Sales, Engineering, Product Management, and customers to create system-level designs for distributed power generation, energy storage, and critical power applications. You'll combine deep technical expertise with business acumen to deliver solutions that are both technically excellent and financially sound. What You'll Do Solution Design & Engineering Design complete power and energy systems that meet customer technical requirements while achieving financial objectives Perform dynamic modeling and engineering analysis to validate system performance Develop project scope definitions, equipment specifications, and technical documentation Conduct value engineering to optimize solutions for cost, performance, and reliability Ensure designs comply with relevant codes, standards, and customer specifications Customer Engagement & Technical Sales Support Lead technical discovery sessions with customers to understand requirements and constraints Conduct site visits and technical assessments to inform solution design Present technical solutions to customer stakeholders, from facilities managers to executives Address technical questions and objections throughout the sales cycle Build trusted advisor relationships through technical credibility and customer focus Translate complex technical concepts into clear business value for diverse audiences Proposal Development & Commercial Support Develop comprehensive technical proposals that differentiate our solutions Collaborate with Sales to create winning strategies for competitive opportunities Define project budgets, timelines, and resource requirements Assess technical risks and develop mitigation strategies Support contract negotiations with technical expertise and clarifications Ensure proposal quality, consistency, and alignment with company standards Cross-Functional Collaboration Work with Engineering teams to apply new technologies and products to customer applications Partner with Finance to develop accurate cost models and financial projections Coordinate with Project Management and Service Operations on solution feasibility and delivery Provide customer feedback to Product Management to inform product development Collaborate with other Solutions Architects to share knowledge and best practices Support the transition from sales to delivery, ensuring continuity and technical accuracy Continuous Improvement & Innovation Stay current on industry trends, emerging technologies, and competitive solutions Identify opportunities to improve solution design processes and tools Contribute to the development of standard designs, templates, and best practices Participate in post-project reviews to capture lessons learned Build technical expertise through training, research, and hands-on learning Why This Role Matters As a Solutions Architect, you'll play a critical role in our growth and customer success. Qualifications 5+ years of experience in technical design, pre-sales engineering, or applications engineering within energy, industrial systems, or complex technical environments Strong technical foundation with demonstrated ability to learn and master new technologies Proficiency in CAD software (AutoCAD, Revit, or similar) and engineering analysis tools Experience creating technical proposals and customer-facing documentation Excellent communication skills—able to present complex technical information clearly to diverse audiences Strong problem-solving abilities and systems-thinking approach Business acumen with understanding of project economics and value drivers Willingness to travel regularly (approximately 30-40%) for customer meetings and site visits Preferred Qualifications Knowledge of distributed power generation, energy storage, or critical power systems Engineering degree (Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical, or related field) Experience with financial modeling and project budgeting Familiarity with relevant industry codes and standards (NEC, NFPA, IBC, etc.) Track record of winning complex technical sales Experience working in a fast-paced, growth-oriented environment Technical Competencies System-level design and integration thinking Technical modeling and performance analysis CAD and 3D visualization proficiency Engineering documentation and technical writing Risk assessment and mitigation planning Customer-focused problem solving Professional Competencies Strong customer orientation and relationship building Collaborative mindset and cross-functional partnership Attention to detail with ability to manage multiple complex projects Self-motivated with strong organizational skills Intellectual curiosity and continuous learning orientation Comfort with ambiguity and changing priorities Professional presence and credibility with customers and internal stakeholders Additional Information A Note to our Recruitment Partners: We really appreciate the interest, but MCG currently manages hiring through our internal team.
