Accountant

AccountantHealth Care Information Systems is seeking an Accountant who will be responsible for performing various accounting and administrative support functions primarily supporting Bioengineering, while also having additional responsibilities within HCIS. This role will support Bioengineering by preparing, reviewing, and processing financial information contained and managed within University of Iowa financial systems. This role must be strongly committed to providing a high-level of service and attention to detail. This position is eligible for hybrid work within Iowa and will require a work arrangement form to be completed upon the start of your employment. Per policy, work arrangements will be reviewed annually and must comply with the remote work program and related policies and employee travel policy when working at a remote location.Position Responsibilities:Process various transactions and invoices for paymentMay assist with the preparation of financial reports and information for leadershipAssist with monitoring of expensesComplete basic to moderately complex recurring transactional and reporting needsComplete the reconciliation of monthly transaction detail reportsAssist Finance Manager with ad-hoc financial requestsPerform basic and routine analysis of financial transactionsPrepare standardized reports by utilizing established processesMaintain a basic understanding of financial systems and processes within University of Iowa's financial databasePerform all tasks in accordance with university, state, and federal laws and compliance standardsMaintain appropriate storage of records and documentation for accounting transactionsEnsure all purchases and expenses adhere to university policiesInitiate both ad-hoc and routine journal entries, change of status transactions, and purchase orders to ensure total accuracyReconcile procurement card transactions monthly for assigned staff and secure appropriate documentationMay review and approve transactions within UI WorkflowAssist with budget preparations and submissionsProvide recommendations for process improvementHealth Care Information Systems (HCIS): Provides and supports information and communication systems and technology that facilitate quality patient care, progressive medical education, and innovative research.
