This department has 101 beds. Typically, the patient ratio is 4:1 for medical cases and up to 7:1 for behavioral holds. Technicians are available and work in cardiac monitoring and internal processing areas, including triage. Unit clerks are present for both day and night shifts. Type of equipment includes pumps and monitors. Documentation is managed through a specific system. Scheduling includes every other weekend, with flexibility needed to meet department requirements. There is no floating outside of the emergency department, but staff must be open to floating within the department. Patient experience requirements include respectful behavior and effective communication throughout the patient's visit. Advanced skills are needed for procedures performed in the unit. Dress code requires navy scrubs. The department team is recognized for their strong teamwork and welcoming personalities.
