Bixler Moore LLC

Are you a detail-oriented attorney who also enjoys working directly with clients? Bixler Moore, LLC is hiring an Estate Planning Attorney to join our growing estate and elder law firm. This position will be based primarily out of our Louisville, Ohio office, located in a beautifully restored historic building originally built in 1885. This is not a litigation position. This role is focused on thoughtful planning, precise drafting, client counseling, and helping individuals and families make important legal decisions with clarity and confidence. We are looking for an attorney who combines strong technical legal skills with the ability to connect with people. The right person will enjoy reviewing details, spotting issues, following systems, and producing accurate work — but will also be comfortable meeting with clients, asking good questions, explaining options, and guiding families toward decisions that fit their goals. This role is ideal for an attorney who wants to become highly skilled in estate planning and elder law while serving as a trusted advisor to clients during some of life’s most important planning conversations. Compensation & Benefits Salary commensurate with experience Health insurance Paid holidays, vacation, and sick leave Paid maternity leave Life insurance Annual professional development budget Team-based support and training Monthly team lunches Private office Free on-site parking Responsibilities: Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Meet with clients and prospective clients to discuss estate planning goals, family dynamics, assets, concerns, and planning options Listen carefully to clients, identify their priorities, and help them understand the planning choices available to them Build trust with clients through clear communication, thoughtful questions, and practical guidance Analyze client information and identify planning issues, risks, gaps, and opportunities Design estate plans tailored to each client’s needs, including wills, revocable living trusts, powers of attorney, health care directives, deeds, beneficiary planning, and related documents Explain estate planning concepts to clients in plain English so they can make informed decisions Guide clients through the planning process from consultation through signing Draft, review, revise, and quality-check estate planning documents Review client asset summaries, beneficiary designations, real estate information, business interests, and funding-related issues Lead signing meetings and ensure estate planning documents are properly executed Maintain accurate matter notes, document checklists, and electronic files Work closely with paralegals, client care team members, and other attorneys to move matters efficiently through the firm’s workflow Assist with trust funding, deed preparation, and post-signing follow-up Identify elder law, Medicaid planning, probate, trust administration, tax, real estate, or business succession issues that may require additional planning or attorney involvement Participate in firm systems, team meetings, training, quality control, and process improvement Build strong relationships with clients, referral sources, and community partners Qualifications: The ideal candidate will have: Active Ohio law license in good standing Estate planning, elder law, probate, trust administration, tax, real estate, or related legal experience preferred Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy Excellent drafting, writing, analytical, and issue-spotting skills Strong client communication and counseling skills Ability to explain legal concepts in a clear, practical, and approachable way Comfort leading client meetings and helping clients evaluate their options Ability to listen carefully, ask thoughtful questions, and build trust with clients Professionalism, discretion, and sound judgment Comfort working within established systems, checklists, workflows, and quality-control processes Ability to manage multiple client matters, deadlines, and document projects at the same time Patience and compassion when working with clients who may be aging, grieving, overwhelmed, or planning for difficult family circumstances Interest in building a long-term career in estate planning and elder law Strong computer skills and ability to learn legal software and internal systems Prior estate planning experience is strongly preferred, but we are willing to train the right attorney who has excellent judgment, strong analytical skills, careful work habits, strong interpersonal skills, and a genuine interest in this practice area. Who Thrives in This Role This role is a strong fit for someone who: Likes structure, organization, and clear expectations Enjoys careful legal analysis and high-quality document work Notices details that other people miss Takes deadlines, follow-up, and documentation seriously Enjoys meeting with clients and helping them feel comfortable with complex decisions Can explain legal concepts without jargon or unnecessary complexity Builds trust by being prepared, thoughtful, responsive, and clear Is comfortable guiding a conversation while still listening carefully Values process, preparation, and high-quality client service Wants to become highly skilled in a focused practice area This role is probably not the best fit for someone who dislikes document review, resists systems, avoids client conversations, struggles with follow-up, or wants a courtroom-focused practice.
