CT Scan Technologist

Job Summary Under the direction of the chief technologist, performs Cat Scan or MRI procedures at a technical level that does not require constant supervision. Performs a variety of technical procedures that require independent judgment, applying prescribed ionizing radiation for diagnostic imaging, and assumes responsibility for designated areas or procedures as needed. Responsibilities Patient and room preparation Enter patient data into RIS and other appropriate computer systems. Place the patient on the scan table in the correct position. Obtain the appropriate scout image for the procedure. Ensure error‑free data entry. Complete room turnaround within 5 minutes after the previous case. Work in parallel with nursing, medical, and technological staff to maintain efficiency. Direct involvement during procedures Assist the radiologist during biopsy procedures as needed. Maintain constant attention to procedure progression while in the control room. Operate the injector when necessary. Apply error‑free sterile technique and remain constantly aware of procedure progression. Obtain cross‑sectional images Set protocols and sequences to obtain high‑quality images for diagnosis. Maintain a retake rate of less than 3% due to improper protocol or sequence settings. Adhere to imaging workflow in IDXRad and G.E. Centricity (PACS), tracking exams and verifying labeling, orientation, and patient data. Photographing and processing images Photograph, label, process, and display final images on viewing machines for radiologist interpretation. Ensure high‑quality, error‑free labeling and proper ordering of images. Maintain all necessary records of image slices, injections, etc. Document all records accurately. Observe all rules and regulations regarding radiation safety for patients and staff, ensuring error‑free compliance. Train other associates in CAT Scan and MRI procedures, providing knowledgeable information to associate students. Maintain orderliness and cleanliness of the assigned area, keeping the work area clean and orderly. Perform duties of a 4T technologist as needed, ensuring high‑quality cooperative performance. Perform other related assigned tasks. Qualifications GED required; AS preferred. Satisfactory completion of formal radiological technology training in CT or MR and meet certification requirements for either modality. Experience with Cat Scan Systems and/or MRI Systems. Proficiency with PACS and RIS systems. Registered Radiologic Technologist with injection experience (ARRT required).
