Early Childhood Substitute Teacher Job Description Substitute Teachers Headwaters School is currently hiring Substitute Teachers for grades K-12 as well as Early Childhood (ages 18 months - 5 years of age). We need qualified applicants that have teaching experience, flexible schedules and are willing to come in with limited notice. To learn more about our community, go to - About this Position - Substitute Teachers are responsible for providing and implementing the daily lesson plans according to the School's requirements. In addition, they are charged with managing the classroom environment, providing activities, materials, and promoting student learning in the absence of the regular classroom teacher. Qualifications: High School Diploma or GED, required Knowledge of Montessori educational philosphy, preferred Experience working with children/students, required Professional appearance Knowledge & Skills: Knowledge of subject area assigned. Passion for working with children. Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills. General knowledge of curriculum and instruction. Ability to instruct students and manage their behavior. Ability to follow oral and written directions. Ability to maintain effective classroom management strategies. Working Conditions: Services are generally provided within a standard classroom environment. Some movement throughout the classroom is generally necessary to facilitate learning (e.g., standing, walking, stooping, bending, sitting, and/or kneeling). Light lifting of materials and other objects associated within a classroom environment is required (e.g., books, teaching aids, up to approximately 20 to 40 lbs.).
