Job Title

Emergency Department Registered Nurse – Days (10a–10p)

Contract | Full-Time | Onsite | Day Shift (10:00 AM – 10:00 PM)

Key Responsibilities

• Perform initial and ongoing age-appropriate nursing assessments and reassessments throughout the shift
• Develop, implement, and evaluate individualized plans of care based on patient needs and physician orders
• Administer medications correctly utilizing the five rights and evaluate patient response to medications
• Communicate and document patient care activities, status changes, and updates to the healthcare team in accordance with established standards and policies
• Assess patient and family education needs, provide teaching as indicated, and complete discharge planning to ensure patient and family understanding
• Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings, bedside rounding, emergency preparedness planning, and quality improvement initiatives

Required Qualifications

• Current, active Maine RN license or valid Compact RN license
• Current, unexpired BLS certification
• Required immunizations: Varicella (2 doses or titer), Hepatitis B (3 doses, titer, or signed declination), MMR (2 doses or titer), Tdap, and PPD 2-step or titer within the past 12 months; flu shot required during flu season
• Strong critical thinking, problem-solving, and verbal and written communication skills
• Knowledge of nursing assessment and clinical skills applicable across all age groups
• Ability to meet physical demands including standing, walking, lifting up to 30 lbs, and pushing patients in wheelchairs and on stretchers

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred
• Current, unexpired ACLS certification preferred
• Prior emergency department nursing experience
